Paul Brothwood | Learning from Kirian Mirabet on Honda Adventure Roads 2026

Paul Brothwood travelled to the Pyrenees as part of Honda Adventure Roads 2026, a unique adventure riding experience that brought together a select group of 30 riders from around the world.
Coming from a road riding background, including ownership of a Suzuki Hayabusa 25th Anniversary, the event represented an opportunity to step into unfamiliar territory and develop new skills on the Honda Transalp.
One of the highlights of the journey was the opportunity to learn from Kirian Mirabet.
Kirian has built a reputation as one of Spain's leading adventure and enduro riders. His experience riding challenging terrain and helping others develop their skills made him an invaluable part of the Honda Adventure Roads experience.
Throughout the event, riders benefited from practical advice, coaching and guidance designed to improve confidence and capability in difficult conditions.
What struck me most was the simplicity of many of the lessons.
The focus was not on riding faster.
The focus was on looking further ahead, choosing better lines, remaining relaxed and allowing the motorcycle to work beneath you.
Those ideas sound simple on paper.
Applying them consistently on rocky tracks, loose gravel and mountain trails is a very different challenge.
The Honda Transalp proved to be an excellent motorcycle on which to learn.
Its balance, predictability and versatility gave riders the confidence to tackle terrain that many of us would have avoided before arriving in the Pyrenees.
Every day brought a new lesson.
Some days it was body positioning.
Some days it was momentum.
Some days it was simply trusting the motorcycle and committing to the route ahead.
The experience reminded me that learning never really stops.
No matter how much experience we have, there is always somebody who can teach us something new.
That lesson applies equally to motorcycling, leadership and professional life.
The best performers are often the people who remain curious, listen carefully and continue learning long after they have become successful.
Honda Adventure Roads 2026 delivered spectacular scenery, incredible riding and unforgettable memories.
The opportunity to learn from riders such as Kirian Mirabet added another dimension to the experience and helped transform what could have been a motorcycle trip into a genuine learning journey.
Looking back, the advice was not complicated.
But like many valuable lessons, its true value came from applying it consistently.
My time with Kirian was one of several memorable moments during Honda Adventure Roads 2026. I've also written about meeting Dakar rider Tosha Schareina, the leadership lessons from the event and my journey from a Suzuki Hayabusa to the Honda Transalp.
