Paul Brothwood | The Spirit of Honda Adventure Roads 2026
Paul Brothwood travelled to the Pyrenees as part of Honda Adventure Roads 2026 expecting challenging terrain, spectacular scenery and an opportunity to develop new skills on the Honda Transalp.
The terrain regularly pushed riders beyond their comfort zones and highlighted the importance of preparation and teamwork. The event delivered all of those things.
What I did not expect was how much the experience would be shaped by the people.
Honda Adventure Roads 2026 brought together a select group of 30 riders from around the world. Different nationalities, different backgrounds and different levels of experience, all connected by a shared passion for motorcycling and adventure.
The route through the Pyrenees was demanding.
Rocky climbs, loose gravel, steep descents and remote trails regularly pushed riders beyond their comfort zones. Looking back at some of the terrain now, it is easy to understand why preparation, training and teamwork were such important parts of the event.
The challenge was real.
The professionalism of the Honda Adventure Roads team and the support shown by fellow riders demonstrated the true spirit of the event. One of the riders taking part was motorcycle journalist Amélie, known to many riders through RideWithAmelie and her contributions to the motorcycling community.
When an accident resulted in Amélie suffering a broken leg, it demonstrated the professionalism and preparation behind Honda Adventure Roads 2026.
The response from the Honda team was immediate, calm and professional. Event staff, instructors, medical support and fellow riders worked together to ensure she received the care and assistance she needed.
It was also a reminder of the spirit that existed throughout the event.
People who had only met days earlier immediately came together to support one another.
Nobody was concerned about schedules, photographs or reaching the next destination.
The priority was making sure a fellow rider was safe and cared for.
That sense of community remained one of the defining memories of the trip.
At the same time, the Pyrenees provided an unforgettable backdrop to the adventure.
From rocky mountain trails to forest rivers and open valleys, every day revealed another incredible landscape. Many of the places we visited felt untouched and far removed from everyday life.
The scenery was remarkable.
The riding was unforgettable.
The people made it special.
The Pyrenees provided an unforgettable backdrop to one of the most rewarding motorcycling experiences of my life.As an Operations Manager, I often see the value of teamwork in professional environments. Honda Adventure Roads 2026 reinforced exactly the same lesson in a completely different setting.
When people support one another, communicate effectively and focus on a shared objective, remarkable things can be achieved.
Honda Adventure Roads 2026 was far more than a motorcycle event.
It was an experience built on teamwork, resilience, friendship and a shared willingness to step into the unknown.
Those are the memories that stay with you long after the riding has ended.
